Enterprise Security
Enterprise Security (ES) has responsibility for ensuring a risk-based management approach to protect BlackRock staff and visitors, reputation, physical and information assets, and operations from disruptive events. The team leads key security programs, including security operations, incident response, travel security, intelligence, vendor management and technology.
The Global Head of Security will be a dynamic and experienced individual responsible for strategy development, execution and serve as the key point of contact for all global issues related to Corporate Security. This position will work is close partnership with global stakeholders, including HR, Legal & Compliance, Health & Safety, Business Resilience, Facilities Management and Executive Protection.
Reporting
The position will report to the Global Head of Resilience, Safety and Security.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive global security strategy aligned with business objectives.
Provide leadership and guidance to regional security teams worldwide.
Responds to employee and BLK emergencies and provides support to ensure our ability to mitigate emergencies. This requires availability during evenings and weekends and a willingness to respond to unexpected emergencies and situations at any of BlackRock’s locations globally.
Foster a culture of security awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
Oversee the execution of security operations, including physical security, access control, travel & event security, and surveillance systems.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards related to security practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security considerations into business processes and projects.
Conduct thorough risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to mitigate potential threats.
Monitor geopolitical developments and industry trends to anticipate security challenges.
Lead responses to security incidents, including conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Establish protocols for reporting incidents and communicating with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies as needed.
Develop training programs to educate employees on security best practices and emergency response procedures.
Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of security protocols and enhance preparedness.
Identifying, onboarding and handling security vendors to assist in the provision of security service.
Partner with the Enterprise Risk Management team and other stakeholders to mitigate risks related to security.
Supports Global Real Estate and Design and Construction in the acquisition and development of new properties and the refurbishment of existing facilities and ensures appropriate security measures are implemented.
Partners with Facilities and Engineering Heads to ensure global security practices are appropriately adapted for local business needs.
Manage the budget for the security function, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
Serve as the contact for local, state, federal, and international law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
Stay current with the latest security technology and trends to keep the institution’s security infrastructure robust and adaptable.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years proven experience in a senior security or law enforcement leadership role
Prior experience working for a multinational financial services firm preferred
Prior experience managing large global teams
In-depth knowledge of global security standards, protocols, and best practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Strong knowledge of geopolitical landscape and risks around the world
Advanced degree in security management, criminal justice, law, or a related field preferred
Strong scheduling, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills and able to work in a fast-paced reciprocal team environment
Relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) are preferred
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (less than 10% of time)
